Damian C. Mele Memorial Scholarship Fund
The purpose of the Damian C. Mele Memorial Scholarship Fund is to provide support for Lehighton Area High School seniors who are pursuing a post-secondary education or career certification. This scholarship is established in memory of Damian C. Mele, a 2017 graduate of Lehighton Area High School who was taken from this world too soon in September 2019 at the age of 20. It is intended to pay tribute to him and remember his life.
The student who is awarded the Damian C. Mele Memorial Scholarship will possess and exhibit similar traits to Damian, among them his positive outlook and zest for life.
While at Lehighton Area High School, Damian truly loved participating in sports, specifically on the LAHS basketball, baseball, and track and field teams. He formed many great and long-lasting friendships on these and other youth teams, and throughout his life. Damian got a lot of his energy from being around his family and friends to whom he was consummately loyal. Damian has a dream of one day becoming a successful real estate agent and entrepreneur. He has an infectious smile and loved to make others smile as well.
It is the intention to award one scholarship of $1,000 annually, which will be renewable up to 4 years and dependent on the academic performance of the recipient.
