Leonard A. Wenzel Memorial Fund for South Bethlehem
This Fund was originally established in 1994 as the South Bethlehem Neighborhood Center Fund for the Future, an endowment fund to support the Center in perpetuity. The Fund was later renamed as the Leonard A. Wenzel Memorial Fund for the Future in honor and memory of Dr. Wenzel, a passionate supporter of the Center and one of the visionaries who was critical in establishing the Fund.
The Center closed its doors in 2010 and divested itself of all services and programs in 2012. Consequently, LVCF worked with the Center’s Board members to determine how to best structure the Fund to ensure future grantmaking would support programs and services previously provided by the Center. On June 1, 2012, LVCF exercised its variance power and converted the Fund to a permanent area of interest fund. The Fund was renamed as the Leonard A. Wenzel Fund for South Bethlehem and grants from the Fund are to provide support for programs and services for the residents of South Bethlehem, particularly the disadvantaged and those who had been traditionally served by the Center.
Gifts to the Fund can be made by submitting a check, payable to the Leonard A. Wenzel Memorial Fund for South Bethlehem, to the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation, 840 West Hamilton Street, Suite 310, Allentown, PA 18101. Gifts can also be made via credit card by clicking the link below.
