Denise C. Garrity/Compass Point Foundation Fund
The Denise C. Garrity/Compass Point Foundation Fund is a donor-advised fund established in 2022 to provide grants for charitable causes and organizations as recommended by the donor. The primary beneficiary is the Women’s 5K Classic, which supports women with breast cancer and their families.
Denise passed away on April 4, 2021, in her home surrounded by loving family, after a courageous 7-year battle with breast cancer. She and her husband, Tom, celebrated 31 years of devoted marriage. Denise spent 17 years as a successful realtor all while raising four children. Previously, she was employed as an assistant manager at Health Spectrum Medical Products. A devout member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was involved in outreach programs for new families.
Although Denise described herself as an introvert, anyone who spent time with her near a speaker or microphone would have a hard time believing that. She had no fear of dancing and singing with friends and strangers alike. She attended countless concerts, especially Dave Matthews Band and John Mellencamp. She was not a fan of a nice relaxing lawn seat – she headed straight for “the pits”, even the day after a chemo treatment.
